Feeling empowered after a series of workshops, Kirsty and Nastia share their personal experience, insights and take-aways.

When I finished school, I had a memorable conversation with my father about my future. He stayed quiet while he listened to me complain about all the things I really didn't want to do. Finally he said "I don't want to know what you DON'T want to do, I want to know what you DO want to do." He certainly had a point, and truly wanted to help, but in that moment I let all the judgement in the world fall onto my shoulders and ran away in shame with tearful eyes.

I felt weak, small, stupid, indecisive, and very lost.

I spent the next 25 years looking for my path, judging myself every step of the way. From IT support person to making wedding dresses, being a multi-million dollar project manager to creating self-help children's books, being an artist and helping teens express themselves through art... I tried everything under the sun and nothing made me feel good enough. At 45, I still felt lost, unworthy and ashamed for not sticking to one plan and just following through. I had lost my playful self.

My fear of judgement and perpetual conflict-avoidance, had turned me into a shape-shifting peacekeeper, while deep inside, I was in turmoil.

Not only did I not know what I wanted. I didn't know who I was anymore.

This affected all aspects of my life.

So in 2011 I started focusing on helping others instead. An internal flame was lit and I felt alive again... for a while. I quit my job, did every course I could find on coaching, facilitation, change management, team development... adding numerous certifications to my dusty bachelor's degree to finally understand that the answers really weren't "out there"... but "in here", and that the best way to help others was to help them find their own path.

For 8 years I coached teams and individuals to find deeper connections and be able to speak their mind in a safe environment... and I felt a sense of purpose because the transformations I witnessed were truly impressive.

Yet... I still hadn't done my own work... and felt like a fraud.

My clients were making leaps and bounds while I was stuck in an unhappy marriage, doubting my every move.

In 2018 I finally understood that in order to help others at the deepest level, I had to start shedding my own emotional baggage to be able to assist others as they found their way through this self-sabotaging gateway, and find courage to take action deep within. While this journey is never done, it has been the most enlightening experience... and made me be able to serve at my highest level.

If it were not for Nicole's coaching, I would not have asked the hard questions I needed to transform what was essentially a broken business model.

Early 2020 I was doing some deep work with my dear friend and mentor Hazel Davies. She opened me up to a whole new world of energetic resources, for which I will be forever grateful.

During one of our first sessions, she had a vision of me in a canoe, gliding along between reeds and mangroves.

As we continued our work over four months together, she had a number of other visions, all of which were very insightful, but none stuck with me the way the canoe did. For me the canoe became a symbol of my journey, not only because it's a beautiful vessel to glide down the river of life with, but because it represents all I believe in.

For me, the canoe is all about space.

It's about holding space for others, creating space in our minds, removing excess baggage to stay afloat and be flexible and light to navigate through the challenges that the river of life presents us with, with ease.

So the canoe is my symbolic ally, my friend and my vessel. It helps me bring others into a safe space, but also reminds me to stay out of the way so that their own learning can take place.

FULL QUOTE: “Nicole is an excellent practitioner of the solution approach. This is a counter intuitive approach to driving positive change, which requires practical experience and so is not so straightforward a topic to teach or learn as it requires a different mindset. I was privileged to attend a small course run by Nicole where she taught both the theory and this practical model experientially. Given she is also a professional coach her approach was extremely effective, practical and enjoyable. I would recommend Nicole for both this course and her general expertise in this field.”

and around difficulties, and […] opens your eyes to different solutions.”

“Very much focused on my needs.”

“Nicole is a very good listener [and] takes the time she needs to make sure

that steps towards progress are made.”

Maria Hasler

Finance Officer

“Her invitations for reflection, positive communication, meaningful dialogues, easy going atmosphere made me unstuck so simply and easily.”

 Linda Hendriksen

Senior Administrative

“I consulted Nicole on a professional situation where I was feeling exasperatingly powerless and frustrated. As I answered Nicole’s questions, it came clear that the response I had tried to use was rather at odds with my natural personality. No wonder I had been blocked for so long! Through an amusing bee-dialogue, we then simulated alternative solutions until I found one that seemed more adequate and that has actually enabled me to open my situation to change."

By asking the right questions, [Nicole has] managed within a few minutes to make me aware of the appropriate answers. Everything fell into place, and when I found the key which allowed me to resolve a situation which seemed complex before, everything became very clear in my mind. A big thank you for having let me discover this powerful yet simple technique! (Translated from French)

“At a time when my to-do list was out of control, my head was a mess, focus gone, and it simply all got too much at work...I was lucky enough to have a coaching session with Nicole which put everything back into perspective. Not just that, with her help I managed to come up with the solutions myself and at the end, walked out of the session with a clear head on the next steps to take.

Feeling reinvigorated I acted upon these, and what had seemed as an insurmountable mountain before, became a manageable hill, one I crossed easily and got me back on track, focused and emotionally-balanced. Thanks again Nicole.”
